Ration Imbalance
This hard working POW looks at wonder at the large serve of rice the hens get, compared to his meagre ration.
The Japanese guards wouldn’t touch dead animals and if a hen died, a POW was called in to dispatch it. Some cunning POW’s used to feed the hen’s on the other side of the chicken wire, and while feeding, gently push down on the hen’s head until it was strangled on the wire. A POW was soon called in to dispatch the dead hen – but a good ‘feast’ was had by the POW’s as they knew it was fresh and not diseased.
