Japanese Guard & Writing; Banana Tree; Rickshaw: Singapore

Des told us the story behind this sketch of a Japanese soldier. He was sketching in his book when a guard approached and grabbed the sketchbook from him. Des expected a reprimand, but instead was told ‘I am artist too’, whereupon the guard produced the sketch of the Japanese soldier. The writing says “Great Japanese Army” and pronounced “Dai Nippon Rikugun”
